Narenda Modi plan to send person into space by 2022 criticised

Vivek Dehejia, Resident Senior Fellow at IDFC Institute, is quoted in a Financial Times article on India's ambitious plan for space exploration. Excerpts:


"However, experts warn the timescale looks ambitious, and the announcement has rekindled debate over space exploration by a country where one-third of pre-school children are stunted by malnutrition. “I think if you did a grand cost-benefit analysis, this wouldn't rank very high among the priorities,” said Vivek Dehejia, senior fellow at the IDFC Institute, a think-tank. “When we’re a rich country we’ll have plenty of time to put a man on the moon.”
