Shilpa is Head of State Engagements at IDFC Institute, managing the Institute's state government relations aimed at enhancing state capacity by providing relevant tools, resources and data for better policy design, decision making and enforcement.
Prior to joining the Institute, Shilpa worked with Janalakshmi Financial Services (now Jana Small Finance Bank), a pioneer in urban microfinance in India, where she helped set up and run their retail housing finance business. Previously, she also worked at the International Finance Corporation, the World Bank Group's low-income housing advisory programme in South Asia. Her role there involved working with micro-lenders on incubation of innovative mortgage products aimed at low-income customers, collaborating with the apex-regulator on industry level capacity building programmes and commissioning market research to showcase the vast business opportunity in that segment. Shilpa is currently also a freelance consultant for housing related projects with multilateral institutions across South Asia and private sector clients in India.
She holds a Master's degree in Development Studies a Bachelor's degree in Telecommunication Engineering.
