Komal Hiranandani

Komal Hiranandani is a Former Senior Associate at IDFC Institute.

She is currently pursuing an MS in Applied Economics and Management from Cornell University. She also completed an LLB (General) degree from Mumbai University, and graduated Magna cum Laude with Honours in Government from Georgetown University, Washington DC, where she won the Government Department Award and the Comparative Government Award. She placed second in the in Pi Sigma Alpha National Political Honors Society's Best Undergraduate Thesis Competition in the United States for her dissertation on "Competing to Become Backwards: A Study of Demands for Scheduled Tribe Status in India."

Her previous position was Programme Officer at Asia Society India Centre, where she worked on Business & Policy Programmes on a range of topics including patenting issues in the international pharmaceutical industry, the role of gender and dynasty in politics, and regional identity and federalism in India.She also worked on international conference teams for sustainable cities, young leaders and women's leadership. Her other work experience includes working as a Research Associate for CGS, Washington DC, where she focused on environmental lobbying, and as a Project Assistant for a CBO initiative to build toilets in Mumbai slums.
